Beenleigh Redevelopment

Logan Council has prepared a draft master plan to guide future growth in the Beenleigh town centre. The draft master plan provides a strategic framework for managing growth in Beenleigh over the next 20 years.

The draft plan proposes to physically transform the town's centre, and includes clear proposals for land use, building, public spaces, pedestrian and traffic movement, supported by a timeline and delivery strategy.

The draft master plan was on public display between 12 November and 17 December 2010.

Beenleigh Parking Plan

Master plan aims

The Beenleigh Town Centre Draft Master Plan aims to:

  • Build first-class public spaces and a new town square
  • Balance traffic movements and car parking with high quality public spaces to ensure a people friendly place
  • Develop incentives to encourage the right type and quality of development at the right time and in the right place
  • Create an environment that is attractive for investment
  • Identify and prioritise key projects that will act as a catalyst for putting the master plan strategies into action in the short, medium and longer term.

Master plan outcomes

When finalised the draft master plan will:

  • Guide land use planning and development, transport and the quality of design of buildings and public spaces to 2031
  • Identify and prioritise key projects that will act as a catalyst for putting the draft master plan strategies into action in the short, medium and longer term
  • Provide a raft of new planning measures and incentives needed to achieve the aims of the draft master plan.

What does the master plan include?

The master plan consists of a series of interrelated strategies and plans that provide the strategic framework for Beenleigh's growth. The strategies include:

  • Land use - what land uses and where activities happen
  • Urban form and density - scale of development, building design and character
  • Access and movement - walking and cycling networks, public transport, carparking and efficient traffic movement
  • Public and open space - community precincts, streetscape and urban design, buildings character, streetscapes, public art
  • Infrastructure - water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications
  • Economic - drivers of change, catalyst projects, growth opportunities.

Next Steps

Your input will help us refine and improve our draft plan. Council will consider all feedback on the draft plan, and prepare a consultation report. This report will recommend improvements to the draft plan, which will be finalised in early 2011.
