On over 20 hectares, the wetlands feature varied bird habitats such as melaleuca and brackish swamps, freshwater lake, woodland, cane fields and open grassland. 203 Australian native bird species have been recorded in the reserve.

With over 20 buildings on site and a vast array of memorabillia and photographs the village is a wonderful place to take a look at the history of the Beenleigh area.
